George Wilson replaces his broken Glass

We returned again to the great facilities at Frilford Heath near Abingdon, Oxfordshire and a very warm welcome from all. After some welcome rain the week before, the Blue course was in good condition but challenging with some dangerous pin positions and thick rough ready to welcome any wayward shots. The opening holes are tight with plenty of water to negotiate and those able to pass this test had some good opportunities to build a good score. The par 3s were key to scoring well with two of them close to 200 yards.
The overall winner was George Wilson from Calcot GC narrowly winning by a shot to edge out Gerry Penfold from Sandford Springs GC (who also won best nett). One shot further back in Bronze medal position was Ian Attoe from Worplesden GC. The same three players took the honours in the Super Seniors 65+.
The Masters 70+ was won by Peter Lockett who used his home course knowledge to good advantage, coming in 5 shots clear of Bob Head from the Melbourne Club. The ESGA 75+ was won by Stuart Fawcett of Woodhall Spa.
And last but by no means least was the shot of the tournament by Darren Gatwood who had a hole in one on the 196 yard 6th. This was his 15th!!!

We hope to return to the Red course next year.
